Eben Eyres is a third-year music student at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he is the Peter Walker Senior Organ Scholar. In this role he accompanies the choir in regular services, as well as in concert across the country and abroad. Recently, Eben accompanied the choir for a service of choral evensong broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, and as part of the choir’s tours to France and Denmark he played for a concert recorded for broadcast on Danish national radio. He was previously organ scholar at Coventry Cathedral, having begun his organ studies at the Junior RNCM. Eben has recently been awarded a scholarship for further study at the Royal Academy of Music for the upcoming academic year. Alongside this he will take up the role of organ scholar at the Brompton Oratory. Eben was the winner of Cambridge’s Brian Runnett competition in 2024, and in the same year was awarded 3rd prize in the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition. As a recitalist, he has performed at venues including Coventry Cathedral, Glasgow Cathedral and St George’s, Hanover Square, London. Eben is currently taught by Stephen Farr, and has received additional tuition from acclaimed organists including Nathan Laube, Isabelle Demers and Martin Baker. Along with soprano Lydia Baldwin, he is a University of Cambridge Lieder Scheme award holder, working regularly with acclaimed collaborative pianist Joseph Middleton.
