The annual series of summer concerts in Galway Cathedral begins on Thursday 8 July and continues with a concert each Thursday evening until 12 August. Most of the concerts feature the Cathedral’s magnificent organ, recently rebuilt and now the most exciting instrument in the country; and the very finest of Irish and international talent is featured. Highlights of the series include: Chamber Philharmonia Cologne, an exciting chamber orchestra from the city whose name they bear (12 August) A concert of Baroque music by soprano Róisín O'Grady and world-famous keyboard player Malcolm Proud, using both of the Cathedral organs as well as his own harpsichord (15 July) A concert of music for trumpet & organ by Michael Harrison and Emma Gibbins from Belfast (5 August) ...as well as solo organ recitals by Susan Landale (Paris) on 8 July, Uwe Bestert (Hamburg) on 29 July and Raymond O'Donnell (Galway Cathedral) on 22 July. Admission to each of the concerts is €12.00 (concessions €8.00) at the door.
