The 2011 series of concerts in Galway Cathedral opened last night with a concert by ConTempo Quartet with David Grealy on the organ, and what a night it was! A brilliant performance was enjoyed by a large and appreciative audience.

Following David's performance of Bach's monumental E flat prelude, ConTempo played the Emperor Quartet by Haydn. All the performers then came together for two of Handel's brilliant and virtuosic organ concertos. Following a standing ovation, Albinoni's heart-wrenching Adagio for strings and organ formed the encore.
